Chicago Crime Skyrockets Under Mayor Johnson

Over the past few weeks, including over Memorial Day Weekend, there have been multiple shootings in Chicago, resulting in fatalities under the leadership of Democratic mayor Brandon Johnson.

According to reports from ABC 7 and the Chicago Sun-Times, a 41-year-old man lost his life after being shot in the 8700 block of South Loomis Street last Friday night. Two assailants had confronted him before opening fire, leaving him mortally wounded. Despite medical efforts, he did not survive.

Additionally, as noted by Breitbart News, forty-two individuals suffered gunshot injuries throughout Memorial Weekend alone; nine among these victims ultimately passed away due to those injuries.

Despite the escalating violence, Chicago continues to experience high levels of criminal activity. Homicide numbers continue trending upward, reaching approximately 195 or 205 cases depending on the source, midway through 2024.
