Hundreds Die Because of Bad Booze…

A crisis unfolded last week in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu when over 100 individuals fell ill. Tragically, at least 34 lost their lives due to consuming toxic illegal liquors laced with methanol and other poisons. This event took place within the confines of Kallakurichi District under the governance of Chief Minister MK Stain.

In India, alcohol-related deaths are fairly common because lower-income individuals can’t afford the brands licensed and sold through shops run by the government. Many of the illegal liquors are spiked with pesticides so that potency levels are increased.
