Supreme Court Deals Blow to Overreaching EPA Regulation
The United States Supreme Court just handed down a crucial ruling blocking an overzealous regulation aimed at curtailing air pollution across multiple states. In a narrow 5-4 vote, the High Court sided with Republican-leaning states—namely Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia—alongside various energy corporations and trade organizations that had petitioned for this temporary stay pending ongoing litigation.
Justice Neil Gorsuch penned the majority opinion, joined by fellow conservatives Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., Associate Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel A. Alito Jr., and Brett M. Kavanaugh. According to Justice Gorsuch, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) botched explaining how they intended to execute their ambitious scheme targeting ozone contamination.
