OT Launches Investigation Into Struggling Delta Airlines Amid Widespread Disruptions
In response to thousands of flight cancellations and passenger complaints, US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced yesterday that his agency was launching an official probe into beleaguered air carrier Delta Airlines' operational meltdown.
In a social media posting, Buttigieg emphasized, "To ensure the airline is following the law and taking care of its passengers during continued widespread disruptions." He went further, underscoring every flier's fundamental rights, stating unequivocally, "All airline passengers have the right to be treated fairly, and I will make sure that right is upheld."
Meanwhile, Atlanta-headquartered Delta confirmed via FoxBusiness News today that it remains committed to full cooperation with regulators while scrambling to rectify lingering technical snafus triggered initially by a recent CrowdStrike software glitch impacting multiple industries worldwide – airlines included.
A staggering total of more than 35,000 domestic flight delays plus nearly 9,000 outright cancellations plagued American skies starting late last week when major carriers like Delta suffered crippling IT outages brought about due to a defective Crowdstrike patch meant for MS-Windows platforms used across numerous sectors such as healthcare providers & financial institutions alike.
