“In the end, the American dream is not a sprint, or even a marathon, but a relay. Our families don’t always cross the finish line in the span of one generation. But each generation passes on to the next the fruits of their labor.”

Michigan Parents Sentenced to Prison Time for Role in Son's Deadly Shooting Rampage
In what many consider a landmark case, two Michigan parents, Jennifer and James Crumbley, received sentences ranging from ten to fifteen years behind bars yesterday following their conviction last month for involuntary manslaughter-related charges connected to the tragic deaths of four high-schoolers killed by their own child, Ethan Crumbley, who carried out a deadly rampage using firearms obtained through reckless parental negligence.
Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Cheryl Mathews emphasized how these verdicts underscored "the devastating consequences" resulting from multiple failures within both the household itself alongside systemic shortcomings elsewhere which ultimately led to such avoidable tragedy unfolding.
Judge Matthew went further, stating, "these convictions aren't about bad parenting," rather emphasizing instead "that [they] affirm numerous instances – either deliberate choices taken or neglected duties overlooked – capable of halting an impending disaster."
As part of an unprecedented legal pursuit aimed squarely against those deemed accountable aside from the actual perpetrator himself, the Crumbleys faced intense scrutiny throughout proceedings due largely to perceived gross dereliction regarding proper supervision alongside glaring warning signals dismissed prior to November 30th, 2021.
