Your X Posts Can Be Used to Train Grok

The latest move by tech giant X should raise eyebrows among its users - and rightfully so! In a stealthy update, X slipped in a new feature allowing them to utilize our personal posts and activities to fuel their artificial intelligence bot, Grok.

This change went largely unnoticed until recently exposed. Conveniently tucked away deep inside one's settings page lies the option granting X consent to tap into individual accounts' content and engagement patterns. It appears we've unknowingly become unwitting participants in refining Grok's capabilities since opting out isn't exactly advertised prominently.

What does this mean? Well, according to X itself, this harvested intel would aid in honing Grok's prowess beyond what competitors offer. Grok boasts superior performance due partly to unfettered access to internet archives dating back to September '23. CEO Elon Musk proudly touts these advantages, emphasizing timely updates sans restrictive censors.

Musk took to Twitter to emphasize the significance behind getting Grok right, stating, "This is a much bigger deal than it may seem." He further boasted about Grok possessing unparalleled abilities thanks to direct ties with X's vast repository of online discussions. However, details surrounding precisely how those conversations contribute remained murky...until now.
