Lukashenko Claims Ukraine Provoking Nuclear Response from Russia

In a recent interview, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko made alarming assertions regarding Ukraine's actions in the ongoing conflict with Russia. He suggested that Ukraine's military maneuvers are designed to "push" Moscow into considering the use of nuclear weapons. "Such escalation on the part of Ukraine is an attempt to push Russia to asymmetric actions. Let's say to use nuclear weapons," Lukashenko stated during his conversation with the local outlet Rossiya, as reported by BelTA.

Lukashenko, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, further claimed that Ukraine would welcome such a drastic escalation. "I know for sure that Ukraine would be very happy if Russia or we used tactical nuclear weapons there. They will applaud it," he added, indicating a belief that Kyiv is attempting to provoke a united front against Russia.

The Belarusian leader warned that if Russia were to respond with nuclear force, it would significantly alter the geopolitical landscape. "We would hardly have allies left. There would be no… sympathetic countries left," he cautioned.

Concerns about nuclear escalation have been prevalent since the onset of the war, especially following Putin's ominous warning: "whoever tries to impede us, let alone create threats for our country and its people, must know that the Russian response will be immediate and lead to consequences you have never seen in history."
