Election Experts Sound Alarms About What’s Happening in Key Swing States

Election experts are expressing new concerns over potential delays and chaos in vote counting for the 2024 presidential election, particularly in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina. These states have either failed to implement changes that could expedite vote counting or have introduced new rules that might complicate the process. 

For instance, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin have not allowed for the early processing of mail-in ballots, which could lead to delays in final vote tallies. Meanwhile, Georgia's recent rule change requiring a manual count of ballots at polling places on Election Day could significantly slow down the results process, adding to the tension of the election night.

Moreover, the introduction of a photo ID requirement in North Carolina for the first time in a general election is expected to increase the number of provisional ballots, which won't be counted until after Election Day, potentially delaying the state's final results. Similarly, Arizona's new law mandating a count of same-day ballot envelopes before closing polling places could further complicate and delay the vote-counting process. 

These changes and delays, coupled with the already heightened political climate, raise fears of increased misinformation and confusion, potentially undermining public confidence in the electoral process.
