Texas AG Takes Stand Against Unconstitutional Gun Ban at State Fair
In a bold move to protect Second Amendment rights, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed suit against the State Fair of Texas over their newly implemented ban on firearms within the fairground premises. This brazen attempt to strip citizens of their constitutionally guaranteed freedoms will not go unchallenged under Paxton's watchful eye.
Earlier this month, the State Fair of Texas hastily introduced the controversial measure following a shooting incident that occurred during the previous year's festivities. Predictably, critics pounced, citing concerns about public safety – but what they really meant was limiting individual liberty. Not so fast, says Paxton: "Neither the City of Dallas nor the State Fair of Texas can infringe on Texans' right to self-defense."
It bears noting that current Texas laws allow licensed individuals to exercise their constitutional right to bear arms on publicly-owned property like the 277-acre Fair Park grounds. By attempting to usurp these rights, fair administrators demonstrated either ignorance or disregard for existing legislation. As our esteemed Attorney General correctly pointed out, only specific legal provisions may restrict such liberties; there is no provision applicable here; this blanket prohibition stands as patently unconstitutional.
Meanwhile, the City of Dallas feebly distanced itself from the controversy via official channels, stating flat-out denials regarding involvement in crafting the now-contested weapon restrictions. Their disavowal came across more like damage control than genuine protestation when considering how quickly authorities moved post-shooting to justify curbing civil liberties.
