A 14-year-old girl in Indiana was recently stabbed by a 26-year-old Honduran man who had already been deported once. The incident highlights the issues with the broken immigration system and the presence of those tied to organized crime in the country. This is just one of many similar stories occurring across the nation.

The teenage girl was sitting at a baseball game, watching her brother play. Then, she was stabbed in the hand by a man by the name of Dimas Gabriel Yanez. He isn’t just an illegal immigrant, either. He’s been tied to organized crime – yet another problem that we have in the US.

Yanez didn’t stop at just stabbing the girl, either. He also tried to attack the girl’s mother when she tried to intervene. And this was all going down at a public event.

Todd Rokita, the Attorney General for Indiana, is taking a hardline approach by saying that sanctuary states are dangerous. Nothing good comes from protecting criminals who should be deported.

Yanez is in custody. The DHS has been notified. Whether he’ll get deported remains to be seen – and even if he does, our poor immigration system could allow him right back in again.
