Oops, They Did It Again: Trump Survives Another Assassination Attempt - GOP In Uproar
The security of former President Donald Trump is once again in the spotlight after he survived a second assassination attempt in just two months. In this latest incident, Trump miraculously dodged a bullet, quite literally. How? Well, it seems that the Secret Service actually did their job for once. They spotted the would-be assassin before he could get too close and turned what could have been another tragic headline into a "close call" news blip.
This time, the agents were unusually quick on their feet. Maybe they finally read the manual on "Spotting an Armed Threat for Dummies" or something. Questions are now being raised about how the gunman was able to get so close to Trump, who is running for president again. Representative Mike Waltz (R-FL) has expressed concerns, suggesting that Congress should provide the Secret Service with more resources or new technology. Waltz emphasized that addressing security issues cannot be delayed.
The suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested after hiding in bushes and aiming a rifle with a scope at Trump from about 400 yards away, officials said. When arrested, Routh had an AK-47-style rifle, backpacks with ceramic tiles, and a GoPro camera, which he was going to use to film something.
"They are going to keep trying to kill Trump. This is only beginning," wrote Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on X. "This stops only when we win in November."
The former president was similarly defiant after Sunday's incident, with his campaign sending out messages: "MY RESOLVE IS STRONGER AFTER ANOTHER ATTEMPT ON MY LIFE" and "I WILL NEVER SURRENDER."
