Vet Gets Booted from Delta Flight Over T-Shirt

A Marine Corps veteran named Catherine Banks was reportedly removed from a Delta flight at San Francisco International Airport for wearing a T-shirt deemed "threatening" by a flight attendant. The shirt, part of the "22 a day collection" by the Til Valhalla Project, aimed to highlight the issue of veteran suicides, with its message advocating against giving into internal struggles. Despite her 22 years of service, Banks was not only asked to leave the plane but also to change her shirt, an experience she described as humiliating. She was eventually allowed back on the flight but was relegated to a different seat at the back, missing her connection due to the delay caused by the incident.

Delta Airlines has stated that it seeks to contact Banks directly to understand the incident better, indicating no immediate admission of fault or change in policy. The airline's rules allow for the removal of passengers whose attire could cause offense or annoyance, a criterion under which Banks' shirt was apparently judged.

This event has sparked discussions on social media and news platforms about the respect shown to veterans and the boundaries of what constitutes offensive attire on flights. The T-shirt in question, meant to encourage support for veterans struggling with mental health, ironically led to an incident that could highlight the challenges veterans face in civilian life.
